President’s introduction
Happy Lunar New Year to our ALMA community, we wish you and your families a wonderful and prosperous year of the fire horse. I’d like to take this chance to welcome our new members including families of children starting at CAECC this year. It is wonderful to have you as part of our community.
We hope you have been enjoying some of the events cultural events Canberra hosts, including the Lunar New Year festivities in Dickson as well as the Chinese Lantern Festival at the Canberra Beijing Garden last month. CAECC had a wonderful lion dance as well to mark the occasion, I hope those who were able to attend enjoyed it.
I also want to acknowledge the great work the CAECC is doing in keeping up to date with and being proactive about child safety, including hosting a professional development day for all the CAECC staff on March 27th.
Some of our wonderful ALMA volunteers have organised a book donation. We have a number of Mandarin picture books that will be donated to the Mawson primary school, CAECC and public libraries which will include our ALMA sticker. This is just one example of the great work done by our ALMA members. We are also looking to increase ALMAs presence at the previously mentioned community cultural events, if you are interested in this or getting involved with any other ALMA activities, please get in touch with me at [email protected].
